The Festival of Seville has hosted this Thursday November 9 the 15th edition of the Animation and Video Games Encounter “Challenges and Opportunities for the future in animation and videogame”, which has gathered at the Sorolla Hall of the Hesperia Hotel in the city more than One hundred professionals, students and experts from the most important animation and videogame companies nationwide. The event, organized by the Audiovisual Foundation of Andalusia and SEFF17 with the support of BadLandGames and the participation of the Spanish Federation of Associations of Animation Production Companies (Diboos), and the Spanish Association of Production Companies and Developers of Videogames and Entertainment Software (DEV), María José Bayo, president of the AVA Foundation, has been inaugurated; May Silva, director of the entity; and Mariona Viader, coordinator of the Seville event.

After fourteen years firmly betting on the promotion of this industry in Andalusia, the AVA Foundation has held this Encuentro for the fourth consecutive year in the framework of the Seville event, which is a forum for debate on the latest trends in the animation industry and the videogame.

The event began with the Framework Session “Situation of the animation and videogames sector in Spain” by Marta Alamillo, Diboos collaborator, who has presented in Andalusia the 2017 edition of the “White Book of animation in Spain” and Tax incentives for animation. This session has been completed with the participation of Antonio Fernández, general secretary of the Spanish Association of Production Companies and Developers of Videogames and Entertainment Software (DEV), who has given some of the keys offered by the “White Paper on the Spanish development of videojuegos 2016 “and the report” The three D of the financing of videogame projects.

The day progressed with the thematic session “Production and distribution in the animation and videogames sector”, in which Xavi Viza López, executive producer of Children’s Programs and Animation Series of TVE, intervened; Francisco Javier Rodríguez, co-founder and creative director of Ralight Solutions; and Félix Enríquez Pedrote, Operations Director at Genera Games.

The conference ended with the thematic session “Promotion and commercialization in the animation and videogames sector” with Rafael Vera, director VerJim Animation Studio and coordinator of the Encuentro; Luis Quintans, Owner and CEO of BadLandGames; Sergi Mesonero, director of Strategy, Professional Videogames League; Juan Carlos Buzón, founder of Videojuegos Fermín, independent videogame studio; and Miguel Ramos, Content Director of Gamepolis.

The XV Encounter of Animation and Videogames “Challenges and Opportunities for the future in animation and videogame” has been able to follow live through steraming and on twitter with the hashtag #animSEFF17. Both the presentations and the debates generated in it, can be viewed soon on the YouTube channel of the AVA Foundation, which collects the various meetings, conferences and events organized by the entity.
