Our Story
Verjim Animation Studio was officially founded in 2016, although its roots started long time ago. It is the fulfillment of a dream that we had since we were little: making cartoons, bringing stories and characters to life, and being able to see them in theaters and televisions around the world.
‘Geronimo Stilton’ was the first major production we participated in, hiring more than 60 artists specialized in Toon Boom Harmony. In 2018 we took the next step, working on our first feature film, ‘Buñuel in the Labyrinth of the Turtles’. It won the Goya Award for Best Animated Film 2020, Best Film Award of European Animation 2019, and it was Candidate to the Oscar, in addition to many other awards.
We started our adventure working on small commercials and short films, specializing in all stages of a classical animation production. Likewise, we were recognized as a “Success Story” in the use of Toon Boom Harmony by the software developer itself, which gave us the definitive impulse to be able to work in higher level productions.
Our team, our methodology and our desire to innovate have led us to obtain several awards at the business level, such as the Andalucía Emprende Award for Best Newly Created Company in 2019.
Founders
RAFA VERACreative Director
Graduated in Audiovisual Communication Degree and in Audiovisual Production Bachelor Degree in 2010, he obtained a Talentia Scholarship to study the Classical Animation Program at the Vancouver Film School in Canada, where he graduated with honors in 2012.
He was selected in the New Talent Showcase at the 2012 CTNx in Los Angeles, and as a Young Promise of European Animated Film at the Cartoon Springboard 2016 in Halle, Germany. He has been recognized as a "Success Story" in the use of Toon Boom Harmony by the software developer, and with awards such as the Andalusia Young Award for the Promotion of Andalusia Abroad for his professional career.
ROCÍO FERNÁNDEZContent Manager
Graduated in Audiovisual Communication from the University of Seville in 2010, she specialized in Marketing, Sales and Distribution of Films from Barcelona ESCAC in 2012, beginning her career with the film "Blancanieves", winner of 10 Goya Awards in 2013.
His professional career has enabled her to be a specialist in distribution and sales of animation content for televisions around the world.
